Almost Time to Till

The cold weather is still here for a few months so in the meantime, why not plan out your next spring garden. At Jones Rental we have the perfect tool to use whether you are starting a new garden, or simply getting your old garden ready for a new season. We now offer the 3 point reverse tine tiller which will give you the best results when digging up dirt this year. Pictured above on the left, the 3 point reverse tine tiller will give you a finer result than the regular tiller on the right.

When Should You Do It?

The best time to till your garden is in early spring when the yard has just dried out and it is starting to feel a bit warmer out. How do you know when the time is right? Easy, just stick a gardening trowel, or shovel, into the ground and if it is hard to insert into the ground and the soil feels dry, you are good to go.

Why Should You Do It?

Tilling your garden may seem like a task that is not important or needed, and while some do not take this step when planting a new garden, there are major benefits for taking the extra time to do so. It is easier to mix in any fertilizers or added nutrients that your plants may need throughout the growing season, as well as help with weed prevention. Tilling your garden also helps to balance the soil and keep it aerated so that your plants can breathe, and you get the best yield from your harvest, whether it be food or flowers.

We know it is still cold and that the snow may keep falling, so while you are in your home getting cozy, you can also get planning. At Jones Rentals we have the right tools for you to achieve your dream garden because after all, spring and summer are right around the corner.
